Alhamdulillāh, all praise be to Allah SWT for the abundant grace and guidance bestowed upon us. May peace and blessings always be upon the Prophet Muhammad SAW, the noble messenger who brought enlightenment to humankind.
The Indonesian Caucus for Academic Freedom (KIKA) is a national coalition consisting of researchers, academics, and students who share a deep concern for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, with particular emphasis on academic freedom. KIKA was first initiated on December 6, 2017, and officially consolidated as an organization in 2018. Since then, it has grown into a vital forum where scholars and students unite to advocate for academic independence, integrity, and the right to knowledge production without fear or restriction.
Every year, KIKA convenes an annual meeting that serves not only as a platform to discuss the latest developments regarding academic freedom in Indonesia but also as a space to strengthen solidarity, foster collaboration, and formulate strategies for advancing academic rights within the broader framework of democracy and human rights. Through its activities, KIKA continues to affirm its commitment to ensuring that Indonesian higher education and research remain spaces where intellectual exploration can flourish, free from intimidation, censorship, or political interference.
